"Organised insurance crime is when an individual or group commits fraud or crime against one or more insurance companies. This would include a habitual or multiple claimant using an "elaborate" scheme to defraud a single or multiple companies."

MOTOR SPECIALIST

The overall objectives of the position are to handle all motor fraud and crime detection, prevention and investigation issues at the SAICB concentrating particularly on the ANPR project and cloned vehicles.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

  • To work primarily with the positive industry hits results from the ANPR project to finalisation
  • To work on the cloned vehicle initiative with the SAP on behalf of the industry
  • To assist SAICB investigators and SAP / Hawks with vehicle related investigations
  • To identify new investigations through the ANPR system and
  • To contribute to the development of programme specific projects and products and initiatives to the member companies needs – regarding vehicle crime and fraud.
  • Provide feedback to COO on all current stakeholder relationships and the success/problems experienced and the way forward.
  • To develop and maintain strong relationships with the relevant people within the SAP, members and other identified persons in the industry on behalf of the SAICB.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Extensive experience in motor related crime and fraud combating and prevention either in the SAP or insurance environment
  • Knowledge of the insurance industry at all levels (beneficial)
  • Understanding of SAP procedures and authority and structures. NB!
  • Strong administration background

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Extensive knowledge of the eNatis system
  • Extensive knowledge of the SAP clearance process and vehicle enquiry system
  • A thorough knowledge of vehicle crime investigation (enquiry dockets as well as dockets)
  • A background on vehicle registration procedures
  • Contacts within the vehicle crime fraternity
  • Knowledge in roadworthy procedures
  • Computer literate
  • Communication skills
