The following case study may be of interest to our readers:

In June 2011, Mrs B’s green Honda Ballade was stolen. She was notified by Tracker that the vehicle had been recovered and was standing in the Van Rhyn Deep Pound Benoni

Mrs B contacted the pound for assistance many times but to no avail. The Insurance Crime Bureau intervention team assisted Mrs B by taking her through the pound in search of her Honda Ballade.

The team was able to identify the vehicle through various identification marks. Mrs B was also in possession of the original key for her vehicle.

She had no insurance and was very pleased that the intervention team was able to assist her with the upliftment of her vehicle.

This is just one experience of many that has been highlighted but there exists various similar incidents during this operation whereby vehicles standing in police custody for long periods have, through this initiative, been successfully identified and returned to their rightful owners who were only too pleased to have ownership of their vehicles once again.

The Insurance Crime Bureau extends a special note of thanks to the SAPS and all member companies who were at the pound on a daily basis rendering their assistance and experience, thereby ensuring an operation that was a resounding success.
