Blue Light Robbers Arrested In The West Rand
On Thursday 11th November 2021, three suspects were arrested following a tipoff on Hendrik Potgieter Road near Muldersdrift in an intelligence-driven operation. The suspects were found in possession of Police equipment including handcuffs, blue lights, two unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
Members of the Hawks' Tactical Operations Management Section with the assistance of the Insurance Crime Bureau, Crime Intelligence, Gauteng Highway patrol, Gauteng Traffic Saturation Unit, Bad Boy Security and Tracker Connect acted on information received from GP Crime Intelligence Collection team about suspects driving a Golf 7 fitted with blue lights. The suspects were spotted on Hendrik Potgieter and were successfully cornered by the teams.
Further information revealed that the suspects have been terrorizing law-abiding citizens in Gauteng, Free State, North West and other neighboring Provinces.The preliminary investigation linked the suspects to an armed robbery committed in Klerkskraal in late October, a robbery of a foreign businessman in Heilbron and we do not rule out the possibility that these suspects will be linked to numerous other ongoing cases.
