Vehicle Crime Syndicate Dismantled And Arrested


Two vehicle hijacking and criminal syndicate suspects arrested, following information received regarding a sought-after vehicle that was spotted in the Pretoria area.

During an intelligence driven operation consisting of members from SAPS with assistance from the Insurance Crime Bureau, GTP Saturation Unit, SAPS GP Highway Patrol, Tracker Connect and other industry partners, acted on intelligence about a vehicle of interest traveling Southbound towards Johannesburg that had been stolen from the owner, being escorted by a vehicle with foreign registration plates.

An operational plan was successfully executed and the vehicles were stopped with the two suspects being contained without incident. Following further investigation, a residential premises belonging to the one suspect was raided by the teams. During scene processing, numerous vehicles and various exhibits such as registration papers, registration plates, vehicle parts and false enatis documents were confiscated.

A laptop with software used to design, create & print vehicle registration papers for different countries, as well as large quantities of drugs were also seized and the suspects were arrested and detained on multiple charges. The scene was fully contained and further Investigation will continue as these suspects might be linked to other criminal syndicates and ongoing investigations.
