Vehicle Theft Syndicate Dismantled

A vehicle theft syndicate has been dismantled and Three suspects have been arrested, during an intelligence driven operation conducted by Crime Intelligence Gauteng Provincial Collection, the Insurance Crime Bureau, the Hawks, GTP Saturation Unit, Tracker Connect and other industry partners during a search for hijacking suspects who were targeting specific vehicles.

Information was disseminated regarding a group of suspects that were very active and committing vehicle theft around the Gauteng Province as well as in neighbouring Provinces, targeting SUV’s.

Following actionable information, an intelligence driven operation in the East Rand, surveillance teams were strategically placed and spotted the suspects’ vehicle driving in a residential suburb with false registration plates.

An operational plan was successfully executed and the vehicle was cornered with all Three suspects being contained without incident. During the scene processing, various exhibits such as bags, gloves, signal jamming devices amongst other vehicle theft instruments were seized. The scene was fully contained and further Investigation will continue as these suspects can be linked to other vehicle theft cases around the greater Johannesburg, North West Province and Hartbeespoort Dam areas.
